{Sunday Social} What I Was Doing…

Sunday Social

  1. 1 year ago I was… finishing the last of my undergrad courses and debating on whether to go to the Graduation ceremony. Back then it seemed like a waste of time, something my family was forcing me to go to, and I doubt I was the only one. I did eventually decide to go, and it was still a waste of a few hours, but I’m glad I went. It was surreal walking across a stage in an arena I had watched circuses, performances, and ice skating at all my life. It was a weird feeling standing there with 1000+ people fidgeting with their caps. At the end of the day though, it was really a day for my family to be proud to see their first grandchild/only child to graduate from college.
  2. 5 years ago I was… {The timing of this post is leading up to the most uneventful answers.} I was gearing up to graduate from high school, practicing for our Baccalaureate mass and graduation ceremony, reveling in the fact that we pulled off an underdog Year Day win after losing to the freshman in years before, and realizing that for the first time in my whole life, my group of friends weren’t going to be at the same school.
  3. 10 years ago I was … 7th grade…Oh boy. I was probably flirting it up with whoever I wanted to be my boyfriend at the time. {Keep in mind that only meant we held hands, maybe hugged, talked after school, and went to the monthly bingo our parents volunteered at…Yeah, I was a badass… NOT}
  4. 1 year from now I’ll be… Oh, I don’t know. Hopefully progressing with my career.
  5. 5 years from now ill be doing…. Hopefully married and not still working as a manager here.
  6. 10 years from now ill be doing… Hopefully raising a family and making this blog pretty spectacular.

{Sunday Social} 4 Things

Sunday Social

  1. 4 favorite things to do on a weekend:  Sleeping in for sure, even if that’s only until 8am. Do absolutely nothing. Spend the day shopping, and taking the dogs to Starbucks.
  2. 4 favorite things about your best friend: She just gets me. Whether I see her once a week or once a month, we still never run out of things to talk about. For some reason, we have the same tastes in like everything. (I’m talking we painted our rooms the same colors, we had the same bikes, coats, etc.when we were little.) If I had a twin in this world, (not identical or anything, just similarities…) it’d be her.
  3. 4 things you would do with $100,000: Pay off my credit cards (which is like $500 total). Buy my mom a new car. Put the rest to the mortgage. I guess that’s only three… maybe I’d buy a new Filofax…The grey Osterley is still calling my name.
  4. 4 favorite books you’ve ever read: Where the Wild Things Are, The Giver, Harry Potter, Gone Girl.
  5. 4 favorite snack foods: Granola, Cereal, Chex Mix, Chocolate covered raisins
  6. 4 things that you must do daily: Feed the kitties, take my vitamins, make the bed, read.

{Sunday Social} When I Was Little…

Sunday Social

I’m back everyone. Sorry for missing last week’s Sunday Social post. I’ve been working on projects around the house and working on my resolutions for the year. This week is focused on things you did when you were little.

  1. Did you sleepwalk as a child? – Not that I know of. I did talk in my sleep though, but I just mumble a bit. No words.
  2. Did you ever try to run away or sneak out of your house? – Did kids actually run away? I hid occasionally, but I was never really that good at hiding. I never really had to sneak out either. By the time I was going out late enough, I was allowed to be out.
  3. Did you have any imaginary friends? – Nope. I had my days where I pretended I was teaching classes or playing house, but there was never one person I imagined.
  4. Did you ever go toilet papering? – I must have lived a very sheltered life, which is surprising because normally I’m saying that about other people. I just never knew people actually did this. I saw it in the movies and on TV, but no one around me ever did this.
  5. Did you ever sneak tv shows you weren’t allowed to watch? – I was allowed to watch pretty much anything. I wasn’t a bad kid so my parents weren’t concerned. I did always feel a bit rebellious watching shows (other than music videos) on MTV when I was middle school though. I’d flick the channel to something like Disney whenever someone came into the room.

Well that’s it for this week. It’s a short post because I’ve got a laundry list of things to do (including several loads of laundry.)

Sunday Social

Boy is my internet slow today. Writing this has been a bit of a pain. It took nearly 5 minutes to simply get to the page to write the post. *end of rant* Happy Sunday everyone! It’s been a gorgeous week of nearly perfect weather. This week’s post is all about Twitter. If you don’t follow me already, follow my blog @littlelifeblog AND me @andreamocko for more general ramblings.

1. When did you join twitter? – According to Twitter, I joined in February of 2008. My blog account is a bit more recent and is less than a month old.
2. Who is your favorite non-celeb to follow? – I used to be a bit obsessed with the Apple fan community. I liked to tweak my Mac here and there to the point it didn’t look like a Mac. At one point I found my favorite icon designers had twitter accounts and I wanted to follow them. Louie Mantia (@mantia), a great designer, happens to be one of the few I still follow. {I sure hope he doesn’t find this mildly creeperish.} I’m slightly jealous of his frequent trips to Disney theme parks.
3. Who is your favorite celeb to follow? – It’s a tie between two “somewhat” celebrity accounts – the Tone It Up girls (@ToneItUp) and Matthew Inman of The Oatmeal (@oatmeal). The Tone It Up girls are always so motivating. Matthew Inman always seems to have my laughing or learning something new. Last week I learned about a crazy rainbow killing shrimp.
4. Have you ever had a celeb respond to a tweet? – I use Twitter more for following companies and products I like truthfully. While I don’t use Twitter as my #1 news source, that’s it’s main purpose for me. Following celebrities often clutters up my feed with rants about first-world problems.
5. What is your favorite store/brand to follow? – I have to say I enjoy following Sephora the most. They have some really handy tips.
6. Give us three tweeps we should be following. – Carly (@collegeprepster) is one of my favorite blogs at the moment. Definitely check her out. @omgthatspunny is another one that I enjoy. They post some pretty silly puns. And for one of the cutest families ever, be sure to check out Missy (@xopinkpistachio) another one of my favorite bloggers at the moment.

Sunday Social

Happy Sunday everyone. This week it’s all about Pinterest. Now I know some people in the Philofaxy community dislike Pinterest. I do find it weird when I find my own stuff on there, but I really enjoy using it to save and share things with other people. I like getting ideas for  fashionable work attire, recipes, and quick tips, but I also use it as my wish list. I’m using it to plan my room renovations, and I also use it as a place to share products I love with others. So check me out on Pinterest if you haven’t already.

1. What is your favorite outfit pin? – So I went to private school from Kindergarten through senior year of high school, that’s nearly 13 years of uniforms. In college, I gravitated towards simple jeans and a t-shirt looks, but when I got my full-time job at a university, I was given one rule for what to wear, “Don’t look like a student.” Easier said than done when your 22 years old and 5’1″. I still get asked if I’m there for orientation on a regular basis. In any event, Pinterest has been a great source of inspiration for how to look professional without dressing like I’m 50. My current favorite look for Spring is this one:

2. What is your favorite food pin? – By far the favorite thing I’ve made so far is going to be the super simple peanut butter fudge recipe. I mean 2 ingredients, a couple minutes, and I’ve been told it’s better than the more complicated recipes.

3. What is your favorite wedding pin? – I have absolutely no wedding pins on Pinterest, and I sort of intend to keep it that way until I have a wedding to pin about which with any luck will be sooner than later.

4. What is your favorite DIY/craft pin? – I don’t typically pin crafts, but I do have a few. I had grand plans to have some of these in my office this winter, but they didn’t happen. Maybe next year.

5. What is your favorite quote/verse/lyric pin? –
Also not a huge pinner of lyrics, but this is one of my favs.

6. Share one more random pin you love. –
Now that Spring’s here, I’m starting to think about what I need to add to my wardrobe for Spring, and I’m thinking these shoes are going to be fairly high on my list.

{Sunday Social} Week #7

Sunday Social

It’s Sunday, and I’m excited as usual because I love Sundays. Making a routine of Sunday has really made it a lot more enjoyable now that my mindset has changed from “the last day of the weekend before another long week of work” to “the first day to start my week of right.” So here’s this week’s questions:

1. Favorite type of work out to do?  – If any of you have been following my blog for any length of time, you’ll know I’m a big fan of Katrina and Karena from Tone It Up. I’ve never been one to really work out per se. I’d do a few pushups or squats here or there, but nothing that would really do anything. I bought their workout DVD a couple of months ago, and since then I’ve never looked back. I actually feel guilty when I don’t work out every day. It’s really triggered a total lifestyle change for me.

2. Favorite guilty pleasure candy or sweet? –  Okay, so I may be in the minority here, but I’m not a big fan of sweets. I’d rather have a piece of fruit or some veggies any day over a piece of cake which I’m sure my parents enjoyed when I was little. I do enjoy a Java Chip Frappuccino or a White Mocha from Starbucks every once in a while though. {Ok, maybe more than every once in a while considering I have a Gold Card…}

3. What is one thing you continuously forget to do?  Totally honest confession here – brushing my teeth at night. I know that’s terrible, and I’m trying to make it a habit this year. I just  always seem to be going 200% all day until it’s time for bed, and that extra 2 minutes with my tooth brush seems like such a chore. My dentist would probably hate me if they knew, but they always say I’m doing a fantastic job with my teeth.

4. Posts its or phone reminders? – This one’s a hard one. If you read my blog, you know my Filofax runs my life, but I also use my technology for everything, so I don’t particularly like one or the other any better. Phone reminders if it needs to be done at a specific time. I’d also pick digital reminders on my phone, iPad, or computer for anything I’m going to need access to for a while or over and over again just because they hold up better than post it notes. Anything else that doesn’t repeat and doesn’t need to be done at a certain time gets put on post its.

5. Favorite picture currently on your phone that always makes you smile.

I snapped this on my iPad a few days ago. I was trying to read in my living room. Zoey, one of my dogs, had to cuddle in my lap. Chase, one of my cats, being obsessed with my iPad insisted he needed to be right there as well. I tried getting a picture of all three of us together, and this is the best I could get without Chase taking up the whole picture.

Sunday Social

Another week has come and gone. As much as I dislike Sundays because it means the weekends over, I happen to love them too because Sundays are my days to reboot and get prepared for the up coming week.

Sidenote: I love random acts of kindness, and I just had to share this because it made my day. I happened to be in line at a Walmart yesterday picking up a few things. The couple in front of me told me I could go in front of them. That in itself would have been a nice enough gesture because even that never happens at my Walmart, but the story continues. A few minutes later they switched to another shorter checkout lane. As they were finishing up, they noticed I was still waiting in line, so they called me over to their lane, but as I walked over, someone with more stuff than the girl in the previous line beat me to it. The couple then said to the guy who was in front of me, “Sir, she’s with us. Can she go in front of you?” The guy happened to say yes. I didn’t know these people at all, but it was such a nice gesture, so thank you mystery Walmart couple.

This Weeks Questions:

1. What is your favorite thing about Spring? – The weather is absolutely perfect. I also love spring colors and all the cute clothes.
2. Favorite kind of flowers to grow or receive? –  I love lilies. I’m not exactly sure why, and I don’t have a particular favorite kind. Just any kind of lilies.
3. What is your favorite nail polish color? – I’ve never actually thought about having a favorite color. I kind of just pick based on what mood I’m in or what new colors I’ve gotten in the mail. Recently I’ve been using more mauve-y shades. It’s girly but not too girly that it’s unprofessional. As somewhat of a manager now, I think my days of neon pink nails are coming to an end.

Abu
4. What is your favorite out door activity? – If it’s not playing with my dogs out in the yard, it’s bringing the dogs AND cats outside and sitting on the deck with something to drink and something to read. I have an iPad but that’s not so great in sun, so I’m considering getting a Kindle at some point.
5. Do you have any fun Spring plans? Details :) – Work work, and more work. Oh, and the massive bedroom remodel I’ve been planning. I’m going to start making some posts about it soon.

Sunday Social

Happy St. Patrick’s Day everyone!

This Weeks Questions:

1. Favorite thing to do on a rainy day?  – I really like to sleep in on rainy days, but that’s usually impossible. Another favorite is wearing my rain boots, but as polka dot rain boots aren’t exactly professional attire, that’s not usually a possibility either. {Note to self: Invest in some cute but more professional rain boots.} So my favorite possible thing to do on a rainy day – watch the rain… There’s something relaxing about it.

2. Favorite thing to do on a Summer weekend? Backyard barbecue with friends for sure.

3. Favorite Spring accessory? Cute shoes. {Really I’m just ready to wear anything but boots, but it’s too cold to walk 10 minutes in anything else.}

4. Favorite way to spend a Winter day? Tucked in bed with a cup {or two} of coffee and my iPad. At some point, I’d venture out in all my snow gear and play with the dogs for a bit. Then it would be back inside to get changed into a pair of leggings and an oversized sweater and maybe a run to Starbucks to warm back up.

5. What is your favorite season and why? Spring of course. Bright colors, pretty flowers, perfect weather, and tons of cute clothes and shoes.

6. Best birthday you ever had? I would say probably this past birthday. It was pretty much a month of fun times to be had for all. September is always a big birthday month for me though. There’s a birthday or two just about every day.

A bit of an eclectic mix of questions today although they were a bit season themed. I know I’m ready for Spring {my closet not so much…} If you want to join in, link up here. I’m off to enjoy to enjoy the start of my Spring Break.

{Sunday Social} Week #4

Sunday Social

Welcome back to another Sunday Social. This week, it’s all about “Never Have I Ever…” This was always my favorite game at parties. I was always the “good” girl, so I always felt that this was my time to surprise people.

1. What is one movie you are terrified to watch? – I like scary movies, so I can’t exactly think of any that I’m terrified to watch. If I had to pick, I’d probably pick the Paranormal Activity ones. As movies, I think they are terrible, but the lack of things happening just adds suspense, and I’m always afraid of what will happen next. Watching them home alone at night in the dark is pretty terrifying as it is. Add that I live in the middle of the woods, I walk around ready for things to jump out at me.
2. What is one TV show you have always wanted to get into but haven’t yet? – Arrested Development. Why are people so into it?
3. What is one daring activity on your bucket list? – Getting a tattoo. I happen to want to get two. A heart on the underside of my left wrist, and stars on the top of my right foot – two awfully bony places to get tattoos.
4. Would you ever travel alone? – I would love to, but given that I’m a female and about 105 lbs., I just don’t feel comfortable. It’s sad that we live in such a wonderful world and opportunities like traveling get spoiled because of crazy people in this world.
5. What activities do you like to do alone? – Ever seen a video where Jenna Marbles talks to her dogs? {I’m sure most of you have. If not, go find one on YouTube.} Yep, that’s me at all hours of the day when I’m at home. As embarrassing as it is, changing the words to songs to add my pets names or their nicknames into them is a specialty of mine.

So that’s it for this week. Link up here.

Sunday Social

It’s Sunday, and that means linking up for another Sunday Social. I’m going to keep this one short because I have a ton to do, but I hope you enjoy. This week is all about 5’s.

  1. 5 songs you’ll listen to the rest of your life –  I’m a 90’s girl, so awfully bad pop music choices aside, “Baby One More Time” by Britney Spears, “Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely” by the Backstreet Boys, “Lovefool” by the Cardigans, “Crush” by Jennifer Page, and “Sex and Candy” by Marcy Playground
  2. 5 things on your bucket list –  Buy a house, get married, get my master’s degree, buy a new car, go on a vacation to Europe
  3. 5 celebs you’d love to hang out with for a day – Jennifer Lawrence {I’m not a hunger games fan which is how most people know her, but her Oscars interview made me laugh, Jennifer Aniston, Mila Kunis, Bradley Cooper, and Ryan Reynolds.
  4. 5 things you always carry on your purse – iPhone, car keys, Filofax, debit card, driver’s license
  5. 5 books on your reading list – Blog Inc is on my reading list, but after that I’ve honestly not thought of anything else.
  6. Share the last 5 pictures on your phone – {I’m always afraid of things like this, but luckily nothing embarrassing was in my last 5.}
